Thank you to 5BBC Summer Streets Volunteers

Eric Brooks | Published on 8/30/2023
Many thanks to 5BBC volunteers at the 5BBC Summer Streets tent on August 5, August 12 and August 19. Park Avenue, Lafayette Street, and adjoining streets in Manhattan were closed to car traffic and open to bicyclists and pedestrians those days. Club volunteers were able to assist hundreds of people who needed tires pumped, bolts tightened, flats fixed,
brakes adjusted, wheels and spokes trued, gears adjusted, cables replaced, and chains lubed and fixed.

We'll be following-up with the people we helped out, and I hope we'll see some of them on our rides in the coming weeks.

Thanks again to Senior Mechanic Steve Bauman and to Jim Zisfein, Joe Svitak, Allan Friedman, Viktor Umanskiy, Bernie Brandell, Beth Nash, Michael Tassone, Jeffrey Miner, Mary Paul, Phil Goldberg, Lois Joyce, Mary Walsh, Erigove Thomas, Harlan Geller, Susan Rodetis, Manny Sanudo, Jeri Liaw, Tony Amis, Rachel Pousson, Jesse Chin, Joan Erskine, Toby Weiner, Rick Gallo, Brooke Johnson, Sharon Behnke, Maggie Clarke, Maureen Gaffney, Wendy Frank, Ken Williams, David Meltzer, and Ross Willard for fixing bikes, pumping tires, fixing flats, queuing, tabling, marketing, explaining Club rides, leading rides, and keeping our many visitors organized and promptly served. What a great group of volunteers to keep cyclists rolling at Summer Streets 2023!
