What better way to observe Earth Day than by putting our Club out there! For the first time, in conjunction with the DOT, we're doing a push in three different locations: Sunset Park, Union Square Park and Dyckman (opposite Tred Bike Shop). The event runs from 10 am to 4 pm, so obviously we'll need quite a few people to step up to the plate and extoll the virtues of cycling and joining our club. Your choice of whichever location works best for you. If you can’t commit to a full time slot, not a problem. Come anyway and do whatever you can. We appreciate any and all help.

Hello Members!

The Volunteer Committee is looking for a few volunteer members to promote the Club at the 5BBC table at the New York Bicycle Jumble on Saturday, May 10, near the Old Stone House, Fifth Ave & 4th St, in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

The Bicycle Jumble is like a giant bike flea market. Vendors come to sell new and used bikes, bicycle accessories, bike clothing and gear, and anything else bicycle-related. The 5BBC will have a table there and we need volunteers who will chat with people attending the Jumble, explain what the Club is, how our rides operate (from Happy Face to Quick Spin, including point-drop-sweep), highlight upcoming rides, promote club memberships and have people sign up for our mailing list. If possible, volunteers will help with minor adjustments and tire inflation. This is a great opportunity to promote the Club.

We anticipate setting up a table at about 9:30 a.m. and packing up by 4:00 p.m. The Jumble opens at 10:00 and we are looking for members who can staff the table and be Club ambassadors who explain the Club to people attending the Jumble and encourage visitors to join the Club.

As the Jumble wraps up around 4:00 pm, we'll need to pack up and carry a table, banner and supplies about 2 blocks and/or load them into a car.
