Connect with the 5 Boro Bike Club at Summer Streets this Saturday, August 5!

Summer Streets is returning to Manhattan this Saturday, and the 5 Boro Bike Club will have a tent there. At the 5BBC tent, you can have your bike fixed at no charge, go on a ride with the 5BBC, or just stop by and chat.

On Saturday, Park Avenue, Lafayette Street, and adjoining streets between the Brooklyn Bridge and 125^th Street will be closed to cars and trucks, and open only to pedestrians and bicyclists, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join thousands of your fellow New Yorkers on car-free streets! When you are riding at Summer Streets, stop by the 5BBC tent on the east side of Park Avenue South between 25^th and 26^th Streets. While there, you can do the following:

1. We’ll fix your flats, pump tires, adjust brakes, adjust gears, and adjust chains. There is no charge for this.
2. Chat with 5BBC members and explain 5BBC rides to non-members.
3. Go on a 5BBC ride. The following rides will be leaving from the 5BBC tent at Park Avenue South near 26^th Street:
   1. 10:00 a.m.: Governor’s Island or Bust! A 10-mile ride that will be at a 10-12 mph “happy face” pace and will take the ferry to Governor’s Island. Leaves the 5BBC tent at 10:00. https://5bbc.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=511565&item_id=2039843
   2. 11:00 a.m.: Harlem to Summer Streets: This ride will leave Larry’s Freewheeling Bike Shop at 301 Cathedral Parkway at 10:00 and stop at the Club’s tent on Park Avenue near 26^th Street. It will leave the Club’s tent around 11:00. You can join the ride at either location.    3. 12:30 p.m.: Summer Streets to John Brown BBQ: This will be a 15-mile ride moving at a 10-12 mph “happy face” pace across the Queensboro Bridge for delicious BBQ in Long Island City, Queens. After lunch, the ride will continue across the Kosciusko Bridge then onto the waterfront greenway to Grand Army Plaza, where there are several nearby subway stations.    4. For insurance reasons, you need to be a Club member to do a 5BBC ride. If you’re not already a member, you can do a 30-day trial membership for $3 or join for a full year for $25/year or $30/household. (Best deal in town!)
