The expanded Summer Streets began in Queens on Saturday, July 29. The 5BBC repaired bikes, fixed flats, did 2-minute bike checks, explained how 5BBC rides work, and signed up new members.

We will have our tent in Manhattan on the next three Saturdays, and in Brooklyn and the Bronx on August 24. We still need volunteers for the second half of August. Can you help out at the following times? If so, please email me at volunteer@5bbc.org and state the day, time and location you can volunteer, and the kind of work you can do. Saturday, August 17, Manhattan (Park Avenue between 25^th-26^th Streets):

If you are volunteering as a mechanic, let me know whether you can fix flats, adjust brakes and brake cables, and adjust derailleurs, gears and chains. Thanks.

 

As you may know, on August 24, the Grand Concourse and Eastern Parkway will be car-free from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and open to walkers, runners, bicyclists, and anybody enjoying car-free streets. The Club will have a tent where we will repair bikes (members' and non members') for free, and talk with visitors about cycling around New York and how 5BBC rides work, including point-drop-sweep.
