Sandy Hook NJ, with its beaches and iconic lighthouse, is our destination on this scouting ride. To get there we will take NJ Transit which runs more frequently than the ferry and is also cheaper. There are nice waterfront paths and bike trails between the rail stations and Sandy Hook.

Purchase your tickets using the NJ Transit app. Outbound is New York Penn Station to Long Branch and return is from Aberdeen-Matawan. Meet me 7:30 AM at Penn Station, NE corner 8th Ave & 31st St., in the ticket holders waiting room (you can bring your bike inside). Train is scheduled to depart 7:53 with arrival at Long Branch 9:30. Lunch will be at Bahrs Landing, a seafood restaurant in Highlands.
