Hot town! Summer in the city can mean only one thing - Summer Streets, the Club's premiere volunteering event. For the first three Saturdays in August, the City closes Park Avenue end to end to accommodate cyclists, runners, rollerbladers, walkers, anything that's not a car. As a participant since the inception of this annual event, we own it, and the City consistently receives very positive feedback about the services we provide to the public.
This year we have a particular need for mechanics, both master and apprentice. If you have these skills or can recommend someone who does, please reach out. In addition, we need people to staff our tables, pump tires (a popular pastime), and generally point out and extol the virtues of cycling. A few hardy souls are also needed to help the mechanics set up in the morning and break down at the end of the day.
While the signup sheet is set up in a structured fashion, don't let that stop you from volunteering if you can only spare an hour or so. Any help is useful and deeply appreciated.
