Queens Odds and Sods
About this event
This ride takes us to some interesting places in Queens. After riding along the Brooklyn Waterfront, we meander through "Nature Walk" before taking the Greenpoint Bridge into Queens. First stop in Queens is Calvary 1 Cemetery. Famed as the final resting place of Don Corleone, it holds some treasures including mausoleums with amazing stained glass and a moving Civil War Monument. From there it's a jaunt through the "Land of the 60s" and Metropolitan Oval. We next ride to see Stockholm Street, NYC's smallest Historic District, also known as The Yellow Brick Road. Keeping the history theme - lunch is at Gottscher Hall. Gottscher has been slinging good German Pub Grub for over 100 years.
The ride is 21 miles long with total elevation of 600 feet, steepest grade is a brief 7%. Lunch is late in the ride at the 15 mile mark, with an easy ride back to GAP. Ride will be done at a Happy Face - No Dawdling - Pace. As always - check the Web Site for any weather delays or postponements. Let's Ride !
