NEW ROUTE AND MILEAGE ! You can plan the route, but you cannot plan the weather. Sunday is going to be another hot and sticky day. We will be changing the route to make it shorter and less steep. The new route is 24 miles with 600+ feet of elevation.
The new route still visits some nice lakes and ponds. First we head into Flushing Meadows Park and circle Meadow Lake. Then it's off to Kissena Pond for the second lake. The third visit is to Bowne Pond. Bowne Ponde is at the 15 mile mark, and will be the luncn stop. This will be a picnic lunch, so remember to bring your food with you. One highlight, there should be a nice cooling sprinkler here. After lunch, we head home along the Flushing Bay Marina and 32nd Ave.
Owing to the weather, we will be making any necessary stops for either shade, hydration, sprinklers, or ice cream trucks. The ride starts and ends at the Queens end of the QB Bridge [intersection of Queens Plaza South and Crescent Street.
