Flushing's Voelker Orth Museum and Garden
About this event

Before Flushing morphed into the bustling urban community it is today, it was a quiet suburb. First we will make a quick stop at the Lewis Latimer house where the famous African inventor of the light bulb lived. Then around the corner to the Victorian Voelker Orth museum, where we'll learn about life during the turn of the century. (5$ donation encouraged.) The garden there is maintained using 19th century techniques and is a sanctuary for local birds.
The ride will take us over the Kosciuszko Bridge through Woodside, along Flushing Bay to the museum in Murray Hill. The home route will take us through suburban and urban Brooklyn/Queens. Lunch will be at Tarim Uyghur Restaurant on Northern Boulevard.
Locks are a must. And bring all the other usual stuff.
