Join us as we travel around Queens’ and Brooklyn’s most famous cemeteries (Calvary, Mount Zion, Mount Olive, All Faiths, St. John, Mount Lebanon, Cypress Hills, Mount Carmel, New Union, Mount Neboh, Machpeleh, Beth Olom, and Mount Judah). Phew! Some we heard of, some we haven’t, but after this tour, we will know them all. Speaking of Queens, we will also be riding through some of the borough’s lovely parks, which include Juniper Valley Park, Forest Park, and Highland Park. We will be traversing different neighborhoods in Queens, which has been named “The Most Diverse of the Boros” (and, of course, just for fun, we threw in some hills) and is home to some very famous people: Ray Romano, Martin Scorsese, 50 Cent, and the Nanny herself, Fran Drescher, and not to be outdone by the Nanny, Mr. Howard Stern.
Please note: This is a semi training ride, and yes, David has hills on this route, sure to get us in shape. We will all huff and puff together.
We will stop to pick up lunch from one of the restaurants along Woodhaven Blvd. There are several cuisines to choose from, including Greek & Mediterranean, Colombian, Thai, and Indian. Then we will eat in Juniper Valley Park, a few blocks away, or eat inside the restaurant of your choice.
What to Bring: your bike stuff, lights, hydration, spare tube, helmet (required), bag to carry your lunch. Weather—oh, we hope Mother Nature will be kind to us, but always check the website the night before or early in the morning. Rain, snow (we hope not), or extreme high winds will reschedule this ride. Please dress for the season.
Come join us as we go round the cemeteries and oooh and ahhh at some of the most beautiful cemeteries in Queens and Brooklyn on an early spring day. Dust off those bikes and bring your climbing gears. We have a FUN HILL to climb just for you on David and Maureen’s excellent adventure.
