Shuttleworth Mansion - Mt. Hope, Bronx
About this event

The Shuttleworth Mansion is the epitome of Gothic spookiness. Built in 1896 by a wealthy stone merchant, it looms over the Mount Hope neighborhood. For decades there have been rumors of paranormal activity. To get here, we ride though the South Bronx, Concrete Plant Park and Starlight Park. On the way back, we also pass by the Andrew Freedman Home for Destitute Millionaires. We re-enter Manhattan via the Macombs Dam Bridge.
The ride starts at Columbus Circle and ends at the top of Central Park. It is 20 miles long with 730 feet of elevation. Steepest segment is am 8.8. Lunch is at the Arthur Avenue Retail Market at mile 12. Bring a sturdy lock, lights [just in case] and your standard bike gear.
There will be a five minute grace period at the start of the ride - and then it's wheels down. Check the website for any weather related changes or cancellations.
