5BBC Gettysburg Loop Tour
About this event
Travel in a passenger van with your bike inside or on a bike rack - possibly a trailer if we have enough riders to warrant. It's a three hour drive from NYC to Harrisburg and we should have time for a ride exploring that city when we arrive before joining the 9/11 NMTA 6 day ride described below. Cost includes hotel, breakfast and all of our sponsor Linda McGrane's weekend trip. If you can only do the weekend - please have a look on the calendar and join Roy's ride. The September 11th National Memorial Trail traverses over 900 miles across the state of Pennsylvania. Join the Alliance for the 2nd Annual Gettysburg Loop Tour, a six-day, 200+ mile journey through south-central Pennsylvania, with a two-day stop in the historic town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania via the 9/11 National Memorial Trail.
A significant highlight of the tour includes a stay in Gettysburg on Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th (Days 3 & 4), where participants will be offered a variety of routes and rides to choose from, showcasing the Gettysburg Battlefield and other local attractions.
Beginning in Harrisburg, PA, on October 23, the cycling tour will move southwest following the 9/11 Trail alignment's loop to Gettysburg before ultimately ending back in Harrisburg on October 28. All proceeds from the ride will support the Trail's ongoing efforts to create and maintain a 1,500-mile, multi-use trail connecting the three locations impacted by the events of September 11, 2001.
