Our “Get out of Town” series takes us through Westchester County NY starting in Port Chester. We’ll wind our way up to the Kensico Dam and cross over the top and continue to Mount Kisco were we’ll have lunch at Captain Lawrence (https://www.captainlawrencebrewing.com/mt-kisco-menu/). After lunch we’ll continue back to Port Chester.
This will be a scout ride so expect some missteps along the way. We will be riding at an Advanced pace, meaning 15-17 mph on the flats. This is a 43 mile ride.
We are limiting capacity for this ride to a total of 12 because we prefer riding as a group, with limited point-drop-sweep.
There will be a rest stop/bathroom break at mile 16 at the Kensico Dam and then again at the lunch spot at mile 28. On the way home from lunch there is another bathroom break at mile 40 before we get back to the train.
The Metro North train out of Grand Central departs at 8:36 AM getting to Port Chester at 9:28 AM. Please make your way around to the southbound (train travel) side where we will start the ride. Please note, there is an elevator at the south end of the station. For those driving, please park in the parking lot that is located on the southbound (train travel) side and be ready to ride when the train folks arrive.
Please bring good cheer and bike in good working order. Please make sure your tires are properly inflated, bring a spare tube, sunscreen, water and snacks to keep you fortified. As always, a properly fitted helmet is required.
If you are unable to attend the ride, please "unregister" in a timely fashion so that those on the waitlist can move up and take the spot. Lastly, if you sign up for the waitlist and receive a waitlist notification, you must open the email and register for the ride using the link provided in the email. The system does not automatically bump you up to the ride if a spot becomes available
