Two Ferries and a Bridge

An easygoing ride to Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island. Entrance to the grounds & gardens of Snug Harbor is free, but there are fees for some exhibits. We will see what's blooming in their gardens, have lunch, and you will then have around an hour, during which you can choose between visiting:

a) the Chinese Scholar's Garden ($5/$4 tickets);

b) the
Noble Maritime Collection (donate-what-you-want), where you can learn about the lives of the “snugs,” or sailors, who lived here, and an amazing lighthouse-keeping lady,

c) the Staten Island museum ($8/$5 tickets) where there’s an
exhibit on the "Black Angles" - African American nurses who cared for TB patients in the 1950's, or

d) the World Trade Center Educational Tribute (free)

Thence to the spectacular Bayonne Bridge bike/pedestrian path to the land of Bayonne. We'll visit a couple of lovely parks where we will get unusual views of various bridges and pass through Liberty State Park, ending at the Paulus Hook ferry terminal in Jersey City to catch the NY Waterway Ferry to Manhattan where the ride will end. Waterway ferry tickets range from $7.00 to $9.50, depending on which Manhattan terminal you want to go to and whether you’re a young ‘un or an elder over 62. Your bike now rides for free. There is a ticket office at the dock, but to be sure you might want download the NY Waterway (not NYC Ferry) app, available
here.

This is the approximate route:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37922656.There may be some adjustment to the route but we’ll email it to riders before the day of the ride. If the forecast is for rain, we will notify everyone by email by 7 am the morning of the ride if it's cancelled

The ride starts in Manhattan at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal downstairs at the bike waiting area at 9:45am to catch the 10:30 am ferry.

Lastly, if you sign up for the waitlist and receive a waitlist notification, you must open the email and register for the ride using the link provided in the email. The system does not automatically bump you up to the ride if a spot becomes available.
