Sometimes you just want a nice easy ride. Late start. Not a ton of elevation. And a lakeside picnic. Then this is the ride for you. After a million dollar renovation, Bowne Pond is now re-open, and more beautiful than ever. The pond is located in the Murray Hill Section of Queens. Getting there, we ride through quiet residential areas of Brooklyn and Queens. We will stop at a local deli before entering the park in case anyone needs to purchase food or drink. After our picnic - we ride back along the Flushing Bay Marina, 34th Avenue and cross back into Brooklyn via the Greenpoint Bridge.
The ride is 30 miles, with 700 feet of elevation - nothing steeper than 5%. No need to bring a lock on this one, but do bring your standard bikey stuff. Lunch will be a true picnic, sitting lakeside on the grass or available benches. Finally, if you end up on the waitlist and receive a notification that a spot has become available, you must open the email and register for the ride using the link provided in the email. The system does not automatically bump you up to the ride if a spot becomes available.
