Our “Get Out of Town” series takes us through scenic Orange and Ulster Counties. We start at the Metro North station in Beacon, NY and end the ride at the Metro North station in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is a point-to-point ride, meaning we start and end the ride in different locations.
We will stop for lunch in Gardiner at mile 30 of this 48 mile ride. According to RWGPS, there is 1,937 feet of elevation, with the steepest climb being a grade of 5.9%.
This ride is listed as Advanced. You must be able to maintain 15 mph on flat terrain. We are limiting capacity to 10 people so we can ride as a group with no point-drop-sweep. There are no bailouts after we cross the Hudson River. Please consider these factors before registering for the ride.
If you are unable to attend the ride, please "unregister" in a timely fashion so that those on the waitlist can move up and take the spot. Lastly, if you sign up for the waitlist and receive a waitlist notification, you must open the email and register for the ride using the link provided in the email. The system does not automatically bump you up to the ride if a spot becomes available.
There is a 7:39 AM train from Grand Central arriving in Beacon at 9:11 AM.
Please bring a bike in good working condition. Make sure your tires are properly inflated before heading from home. Bring a spare tube, a helmet, sunscreen, at least one water bottle and snacks to keep you fortified before we reach our lunch spot.
