Why You Double Crossing #*/”@ - Scout Series

About this event

Not for the faint of heart, the Scout Series is what its name implies. When listing a scouting ride there are two options: a partial scout, in which the leader is familiar with the route but has added new segments or hasn't traveled it in a while, and a full scout, in which everything is new.

This event is a partial scout, as we will take the familiar club route over the Geo. Washington Bridge to the Bayonne Bridge. Following that, the partial scouting begins. We will head west to the Goethals Bridge, which your two fearless leaders will cross for the first time. And, being the two-bit double-crossers that we are, we will cross back over the Goethals Bridge on our way to the Staten Island ferry where the ride officially ends. The distance is approximately 42 miles (remember, this is a scout, so there may be a whoopsie or two or three, but who's counting?) The pace will be Advance at a minimum 15 mph on the flats. Please do not sign up unless you can keep up. The elevation is approximately 1300 feet, including the three bridges. The route and cue will be added later on so do check back and will be emailed to the event registrants.

A spirit of adventure and a bike in good working order are paramount for your enjoyment. After that, a helmet (required), bike nutrition, spare tube(s) and tools to fix a flat (leaders have limited mechanical skills), bike pump or CO2 cartridges, money, ID, and mobile phone are all good things to have with you.

Below you will also find the link outlining the club's ride descriptions by tier so you can determine if this ride is for you. Lastly, if you end up on the waitlist and receive a waitlist notification, you must open the email and register for the ride using the link provided in the email. The system does not automatically bump you up to the ride if a spot becomes available.
