Shirley Chisholm Park Loop & Marine Park - Weekday Series
About this event

Join us as we ride to Shirley Chisholm Park to honor this very special person. Shirley Chisholm was an American Politician and in 1968, became the first Black woman to be elected to the United States Congress. Miss Chisholm represented NY's 12th congressional district in Bedford-Stuyvesant for seven terms from 1969-1973. In 1972, she was the first woman to run for the Democratic party's presidential nomination.
We will ride through Midwood and Canarsie to the Belt greenway, as we loop Shirley Chisholm Park. We will return on the greenway, passing Canarsie Pier, to Knapp Street Pizza and Marine Park. We will ride back on the greenway near the horse stables over the Flatbush Bridge which is a bit steep. Ride is approx. 28 miles. You must be an experienced rider, comfortable riding on city streets, keeping a pace of 10-12 on the greenway and riding up on overpass.
