Half-Day History Series
Come join us for a very unique event. Yes, it is a long way, but it’s a pleasant train ride and if driving there is a lot less traffic this time of year heading to the east end and it’s great riding and a fun exhibit. Think of the day as an adventure.
We are meeting around 10:15 at the Bridgehampton train station (a train from the City arrives around 10:20) and then heading out on a scenic ride to East Hampton and then up to Sag Harbor including time on one of our favorite roads, Bull Path.
Once in Sag Harbor at around mile 25, we will visit The Church, a beautiful small museum and art center in an old church. Their current exhibition is called the ubiquitous bike and is has some truly unique and amazing bicycles on display from The Bicycle Museum of America in Ohio. Each bike is unique in its design and function, ranging from 19th century forward. I saw the exhibit today, loved it, and thought it would great if some folks from the 5BBC could see it before it closes on December 10th. Read about the exhibit here:

After spending time enjoying the exhibit, we will head back to Bridgehampton in order to make the 3:20 train back to the City. The ride is advanced moderate as we need to be able to make this train, though we will be maintaining a touring pace at times to see the sights.
The long term forecast is good as of now with temps in the high 40s and minimal winds. First part of the ride is flat, but we do some climbing as we approach Sag Harbor. There is a possibility that the ride will be jointly listed with SBRA. Dress in layers and bring a lock for when we go into the exhibit. The exhibit is free, but donations are appreciated. I’m not sure about a food stop. I will update those that register, but either way bring snacks and hydration for the day. Above all bring an upbeat positive attitude ready to explore and discover.
