Please join me in saying “THANK YOU” to everybody who volunteered for Club activities in 2024.

Club members fixed bikes, explained cycling in New York to visitors, explained the variety of speeds and distances on Club rides, explained point-drop-sweep, led rides, and shared their enthusiasm for cycling with visitors at events such as Summer Streets, the Bike Jumble, and the Five Boro Bike Tour. Members got up at 4 in the morning, worked at events all day in the sun and the rain, and served as Club ambassadors at these events.

 

Looking back, I am amazed at how many members volunteered. A couple members were recovering from injuries and were volunteering with canes at their sides. Many members volunteered on multiple days. A member reached out to members of other bike clubs. A volunteer drove 200 miles in the middle of the night from his home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. And so many people responded to last-minute pleas to fill gaps in schedules.
