UPDATE 7/26/24: We won't be doing Staten Island Summer Streets this year due to lack of volunteers.

But Queens Summer Streets on Saturday, July 27, is VERY MUCH ON! We still need mechanics in Queens, particularly between 10:00 am through 3:00 pm. Our tent will be on Vernon Blvd. at 31st Avenue in Astoria. Please email volunteer@5bbc.org if you can help!

Members: Can you help the Club by volunteering at Summer Streets? The expanded Summer Streets will run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We need volunteers who can help out for a couple hours to a day. In Staten Island, the 5BBC table and repair station will be on Broadway.

Summer Streets is a multi-day, annual, car-free event. Summer Streets has now expanded to all five boroughs. In Staten Island, it will take place on Broadway between Richmond Terrace and Clove Road. Broadway will be closed to cars and trucks, but open for people to play, run, walk and bike . There may be free public art installations, performances, and activities along the route. 5BBC has a decades-long relationship with this event where we pitch a tent, help repair bikes and invite attendees to learn about the Club.

Summer Streets will run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but you can volunteer for less than the full day. Just let me know what times you can help out.

To volunteer, let me know the times you want to volunteer and what you can do by emailing me at volunteer@5bbc.org. We need people who can do a 2-minute bike check, pump tires, fix flats, adjust brakes and brake cables, and adjust derailleurs, gears and chains. Even if you can't do these, we need volunteers who can manage lines for repairs and explain how Club rides work (including point-drop-sweep) to people enjoying Summer Streets.
