Princeton Junction to the Monmouth Battlefield -- CANCELED
About this event

Bicycle from the Princeton Junction train station through farmlands and stop for some history at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park. This battle was a decisive battle of the Revolutionary War. You can walk the battlefields and may cover the same ground as George Washington, Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton and other Continental Army figures. Or you may walk where the British, such as Lord Stirling, Cornwalis or Clinton were fighting. The pace will be a moderate pace, 43.8 miles. We will be stopping after the battlefield at Gus's Diner, mile 25.2 And time and weather permitting we can stop in the historic town of Cranbury, established 1697 for some ice cream at Gil and Berts' ice cream. The route is here https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39850208
It turns out that we will also be able to view some more recent famous history. Our route will take us right past Van Nest Park at about mile 42.5. There we will find a stone memorial to the only reported Martian invasion of Earth. This was at Grover's Mill Pond, the site of the radio broadcast by Orson Wells of the H.G. Welles story, "War of the Worlds"
You can drive to the start or if you wish, take the train from Penn Station, leaving at 8:14 am that arrives at Princeton Junction at 9:27 am. I will be meeting everyone at the Princeton Junction train station. David will meet everyone at the starting train station, Penn Station.
